Man dies in crash in Phillips County

GREAT FALLS — A 37-year old man died when the semi truck he was driving tipped over north of Malta on Thursday.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol, the man - whose name has not yet been released - was driving north on US Highway 191 about 34 miles north of Malta.

As he entered a right-side curve, the trailer tipped, causing the entire truck to overturn and slide into a ditch, and it then caught on fire.

The driver died at the scene.

The MHP said that alcohol, drugs, and speed are not believed to have been factors, and noted that the road was bare and dry at the time.



(1st Report) The Montana Highway Patrol reports that at least one person has died in a vehicle crash in Phillips County.

The crash was reported to the MHP at 3:53 p.m. on Thursday, August 8.

It happened along US Highway 191 about 34 miles north of Malta.

The MHP has not yet released any other details.
