HELENA — The Lewis & Clark County Sheriff’s Office said on Thursday that human remains have been discovered near Rimini, west/southwest of Helena.

A U.S. Forest Service ranger discovered a human skull in the Minnehaha area at around 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday.

LCSO Search and Rescue performed a grid search in the area and were able to locate more human bones and tissue samples.

The remains have been sent to the State Crime Lab in Missoula for analysis.

The anthropology department of the University of Montana will work to identify the age and gender.
