GREAT FALLS — A crash in Judith Basin County on Thursday has forced the temporary closure of a small section of US Highway 87.
According to the Montana Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at 3:29 p.m.
It happened near mile marker 16 of US Highway 87 between Raynesford and Geyser.
The Montana Department of Transportation said at 4:48 p.m. that the road near the crash has been closed temporarily in order to allow a Mercy Flight helicopter from Benefis Health System in Great Falls to safely land and pick up a patient.
The nature and extent of the person's injuries has not been disclosed, nor have any details of the crash at this point.
The MDT says the road will re-open once the helicopter has safely departed, and the crash scene has been cleared.
