MISSOULA — The Missoula Police Department reports that a knife-wielding man was shot by police on Saturday evening.
Officers responded to the 2300 block of Sherwood Lane at about 5:25 p.m. for a report of a disturbance, according to a news release.
The release says officers were confronted by a man armed with a knife, who did not comply with commands to drop the knife.
Police say the man attacked the initial responding officer. The officer shot the man, who was later pronounced dead. The name of the man has not yet been released.
The Montana Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigations is conducting the investigation.
No one else was injured in the incident.
