OSHA investigates deadly 'equipment accident' at Billings car wash

A federal agency has launched an investigation into the death of a man at a Billings car wash.

Jacob Berry, a compliance officer with the Occupational Safety & Health Administration in Billings, confirmed Thursday the agency is investigating the deadly incident.

The Yellowstone County Coroner's Office identified the accident victim as 57-year-old Scott Xavier Williams of Billings. He died of blunt force trauma, the coroner's office said.

We do not yet know if Williams was employed by the car wash.

(APRIL 10, 2026) A man was found dead Thursday morning at a Billings car wash.

He was an apparent victim of an "equipment accident," according to Billings Police Lt. Samantha Puckett.

The call initially came as an injured person at the Tidal Wave Auto Spa at 570 S. 24th Street West.

Police discovered the man was dead once they arrived, Puckett said; the name of the person has not been released.

Police do not believe foul play was involved.

The car wash opened in January. Representatives there have not commented on the incident.

No other details have been released.
