KALISPELL — Glacier High School in Kalispell has brought in additional counselors to help students and teachers after the sudden death of a staff member.

Guidance counselor Jerad Avery died by suicide on Monday after jumping off an overpass onto the Kalispell Bypass.

The Flathead County Quick Response Crisis Team arrived at the school to help students and staff cope after the sudden tragedy. The response team consists of school counselors, therapists, and mental health professionals.

School administrators posted mental health resources for students and families on the district’s website.

A memorial service is planned for Avery on Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Glacier High School gymnasium. The service is open to the public and attendees are encouraged to wear "Wolfpack" attire.

Superintendent Mark Flatau says additional counselors will remain at the school for the foreseeable future.
