BILLINGS — Authorities are investigating the death of a teen whose vehicle collided with a train while he was fleeing tribal police on the Crow reservation last week.
Montana Highway Patrol troopers said the boy was trying to elude officials on Highway 451 at around 6 p.m. on November 24 between Garryowen and Lodge Grass when he missed a curve, crashed through brush, and crashed into a BNSF train head-on.
The 2015 Chevrolet Malibu car was thrown from the rails and consumed by fire, according to troopers.
Troopers say the boy was not wearing a seatbelt, and that alcohol, drugs and speed are all considered factors.
The name of the teen has not yet been released; we will update you if we get more information.
