Guy Douglas Schmidt, 72, passed away peacefully in hospice on Wednesday, November 6, 2019.
A life-long resident of Great Falls, Guy graduated from Great Falls High in 1965. He attended the University of Montana for a short time before entering the Army, and serving in Vietnam as a combat engineer.
After leaving the military, he returned to college and earned a teaching degree. He was a student teacher for the shop classes at Geraldine and quickly decided teaching wasn't for him.
He went back to college and received a degree in Civil Engineering from Montana State University and worked as a Civil Engineer/Forest Transportation Planner for the Lewis and Clark National Forest.
Guy was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and wife of 39 years, Rita Ann (Westermark) Schmidt.
