GREAT FALLS — A Eureka man died in a one-vehicle crash in Lincoln County on Friday
The Montana Highway Patrol says the man was northbound on a forest development road (FR92) when he failed to negotiate a sharp turn and collided with a guardrail just before 3 p.m.
The Chevy Silverado went over a guardrail down a steep slope and collided with a boulder. It then came to rest and caught fire.
The Lincoln County Fire Department and Montana Highway Patrol responded shortly after the crash. The 50-year old man was dead when they arrived.
The man's name has not yet been released; there were no other occupants in the vehicle.
The MHP does not suspect that impaired driving or speed were factors in the crash. Road conditions were dry and bare at the time of the crash. According to the MHP, the man was not wearing a seat belt.
