An upper-level ridge is going to be in control of our weather for most of the next week, which means we are going to have beautiful weather for the end of summer and the beginning of fall with a good amount of sunshine, mostly dry conditions, and above average temperatures for this time of year.
We are going to have mainly clear skies tonight with patchy fog developing after 3am. In northeastern Montana, mostly clear skies are expected tonight. It is also going to be another great night to have those windows open as lows are going to be in the 40s in most locations.
Tomorrow, we are going to have partly to mostly sunny skies with patchy fog around during the morning. There is also going to be little to no wind tomorrow, and it will feel very nice outside as highs are going to be in the 70s and low 80s.
It will also continue to be a bit hazy tonight and tomorrow, so the visibility will be reduced some on the horizon. Little to no impact to the air quality is expected though as we will continue to have good or moderate air quality.
Saturday will feature spectacular summer weather with lots of sunshine, dry conditions, and warm temperatures as highs are going to be in the upper 70s and low to mid 80s. It is also going to be breezy along the Rocky Mountain Front on Saturday as sustained wind speeds are going to be between 10 and 25 mph. Elsewhere, there is only going to be a little breeze around on Saturday as sustained wind speeds are going to be between 5 and 15 mph.
A cold front will pass through the state on Sunday. The biggest impact from this cold front is going to be the wind. Along the Rocky Mountain Front and in Glacier County, it is going to be windy on Sunday as sustained wind speeds are going to be between 20 and 35 mph, and wind gusts up to 60 mph are possible. Out across the plains, gusty winds are expected on Sunday as sustained wind speeds are going to be between 10 and 30 mph, and gusts over 40 mph are possible.
We are also going to have increasing clouds on Sunday with a few showers and thunderstorms around later in the day, generally in/around the mountains. It will also continue to be mild/warm on Sunday as highs are going to be in the 70s and low to mid 80s, with the warmest temperatures in northeastern Montana.
Cooler temperatures will return for Monday, which also happens to be the First Day of Fall. Highs on Monday are going to be in the upper 60s and low to mid 70s, and these high temperatures are near average for this time of year. We are also going to have mainly sunny skies on Monday with just a couple lingering showers around during the morning. The wind will also be weaker on Monday, but it is still going to be a little breezy as sustained wind speeds are going to be between 5 and 20 mph.
We are going to have fabulous, summer-like weather Tuesday through Thursday as an upper-level ridge is going to be in complete control of our weather. On these three days, we are going to have lots of sunshine, mainly dry conditions, and well above average temperatures for this time of year as highs are going to be in the 80s and upper 70s. It will also continue to be a little breezy (5-20 mph) on Tuesday.
