Winter weather is causing major travel problems Wednesday afternoon, and that's expected to continue all the way through Saturday.

A very heavy band of snow developed along the Rocky Mountain Front Tuesday night, and has slowly shifted east through Wednesday. The band of snow coupled with strong winds has created blizzard conditions in Northern Lewis and Clark, Teton, Pondera, and Glacier County. A Blizzard Warning is in effect in those areas until 5 AM Thursday.

The snow has rapidly deteriorated road conditions. Snow and ice-covered roads are reported between I-15 and the Divide. Some roads, like Highway 89 Between Choteau and Browning, have been closed.

Snow will continue to fall through Wednesday night and even into Thanksgiving. Then a second wave of snow will fall Friday into Saturday. Through Saturday, widespread heavy snow is expected for most of the state, with snow totals of 6 to 12 inches common.
