Heavier snow will be starting up soon.

By Tuesday evening a band of heavy snow will start up along the Rocky Mountain Front.

Snow will begin to overspread the rest of the area late Wednesday through Thanksgiving day.

A break in the snow is expected late Thanksgiving night into early Friday, before a second wave moves in.

The first wave will drop heavy snow, especially for areas west of Interstate 15, and north of Great Falls.

Snow totals will likely be between one and two feet along the Rocky Mountain front, with lesser totals farther east.

In addition to the snow, strong winds gusting over 30 miles per hour Wednesday will cause blowing and drifting, as well as reduced visibility.

Very difficult travel is expected Wednesday and Thursday, especially where heavier snow is favored.

Details are still unclear on the second round of snow expected Friday into Saturday, but accumulating snow is expected, and heavier snow will be possible in Eastern Montana.
