Frederick, CO (KMGH) — A Frederick woman was found dead inside her home on Friday and her husband is considered a person of interest in the killing, officials said.

Officers had responded to a welfare check about 3 p.m. Friday to the 7100 block of Shavano Circle in Frederick, in Weld County. They found Emily Butler, 36, dead of an apparent gunshot wound inside the home.

Her husband, Kevin Butler, 50, wasn’t at the home but is considered to be a person of interest, officials said in a news release posted on Frederick’s town Facebook page.

Officials haven’t given an update as of Sunday morning on whether they’ve found Butler.
