Many parts of north-central Montana continue to battle rising river and stream levels as warmer temperatures cause snowmelt.

Flood Warnings have been issued in Blaine County for the Milk River near Harlem and Battle Creek near Chinook as well as in Hill County for Big Sandy Creek near Havre.

Flood Watches remain in effect through Wednesday morning for areas in Phillips and Valley counties.

Flood Advisories are still in place for areas in Fergus, Glacier, Pondera, Toole, Liberty, Blaine, Hill, and Petroleum counties.

The National Weather Service has confirmed reports of water over several roads in areas under the watches and advisories.

Viewer reports show water over roads in Harlem and water spilling over a dam in Gildford.

Eric Hanson told MTN News that people in Gildford are working to protect the town’s sewer.

According to the National Weather Service, a Flood Warning is issued when flooding is imminent or occurring.

A Flood Watch is issued when conditions are favorable for flooding. Although it does not mean flooding will occur, it is possible.

A Flood Advisory is issued when flooding is not expected to be bad enough to issue a warning, but could cause significant inconvenience. Caution should be exercised.
