John Faulkner, director of the Great Falls International Airport, stopped by KRTV to talk about TSA Prechecks, changes to Alaska Airlines planes, and new flights to Chicago.

The airport will be hosting an event to get people signed up with the TSA Pre-Check Program April 16th through the 20th.

This allows flyers to essentially “skip the line” by skipping out on removing their shoes, belts, outer layers, laptops and liquids.

Faulkner said the process is actually quite simple.

“You sign up for a time on there and you’ll come up to the room and they’ll interview you,” said Faulkner. “They’ll ask you a couple of questions, they will have already looked at your credentials, they’ll look through your criminal history, that type of thing, and so they’ll ask you a few questions and that’ll be it.”

During the sign-up days, you can select an appointment time between 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 2 to 6 p.m. and on Friday from 7 to 11 a.m. and 12 to 4 p.m.

To get started, click here and then select “Pre-Enroll,” and then “Apply Now.” Once you’re at step 4 of 4, type in Great Falls, MT as your location and choose “Great Falls International Airport.”

After that you’ll be able to select your appointment time.

To complete the application, you will need to bring proof of identity and U.S. citizen documentation.

Faulkner also says daily flights to Chicago from Great Falls will start on June 7th, bringing an additional 4,000 seats to Great Falls; he says those flights will be daily through August.

Faulkner says the added daily flights come after the airport saw a 40% increase in traffic between Great Falls and Chicago. He added Great Falls International Airport aims to have the flights available year-round in the future.

Faulkner says Alaska Airlines is also introducing jet service this summer with the transition to the ERJ-175 taking place July 19th.

He says the new jets are regarded as one of the nicest regional jets in the country, which features full-size overhead bins and eliminates middle seats.
