The Salvation Army in Great Falls, located at 616 1st Avenue NW, celebrated their grand re-opening on Thursday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The store was closed for approximately one week and is re-opening with new updates, including a wider selection of curated donations, fresh paint, new fixtures, and updated floor plan.

Customers will also see a new selection of products, including closeout specials, home furnishings, mattresses, and clothing for the entire family.

The Salvation Army has some paid staff but for anyone who would like to volunteer, there is now a volunteer coordinator who will be working with the Great Falls Salvation Army as well as other Northwest thrift stores.

The Salvation Army in Great Falls provides social services to families in need. Last year, they say they served more than 9,500 people in the community.

Officer Mark King and his wife have devoted their lives to working and serving in The Salvation Army to help make a difference.

Mark said, “All funds are used to support the services and the programs that The Salvation Army runs. So we could help put food on a family’s table, pay the rent for a month, keep the lights on, keep them warm in the winter or help a kid who’s never been out to summer camp and have that opportunity.”

He also added he is excited that for the first time they will have a security camera system set up. He noted, “Unfortunately, by them stealing they’re hurting somebody else in the community who needs it.”

He said they will prosecute and wanted to thank the people at Alert Security for helping install the system.
