The water is currently running over the spillway at Swift Dam, which is west of Dupuyer in Pondera County.
According to Vern Stokes, manager of the Pondera County Canal and Reservoir Company, the reservoir has received approximately three inches of rain since Saturday.
"The inflows have picked up pretty good coming into Swift," Stokes said. "Right now you have 600 cubic feet per second going over the spillway."
Stokes said that Swift Reservoir holds 30,000 acre feet of water.
According to the National Park Service, an acre foot is enough to cover one acre a foot deep or 325,851 gallons. A gallon of water weighs 8.33 pounds and an acre foot of water weighs 1,357 tons.
Lake Frances in Valier, which receives water from Swift, is full so the water is being directed down Birch Creek and into Tiber Reservoir in southern Liberty County.
An upper-level pressure system continues to track just south of Montana this week, which is the same system that brought showers across the state over the weekend.
Due to the slow-moving nature of the system, showers are expected to continue into Wednesday and a Flood Watch remains in effect for most of Central Montana through Tuesday.
