The Giant Springs Chapter of Credit Unions hosted a garage sale on Saturday morning that will benefit foster children in Great Falls.

This is the second year the unions have held the event. Last year, they donated their proceeds to the Children’s Receiving Home.

President Andrea Holzheimer said this year the proceeds will go to the Great Falls Royal Family KIDS.

"Credit unions are all about being a cooperative so we have been able to pull together all of our employees and put this on for such a worthy cause,” Holzheimer said.

Royal Family KIDS hosts a week-long summer camp for foster children across the nation.

Camp Director Bonnie Culver said last month the Great Falls Chapter hosted their first camp for the area.

“The whole point of the week is to treat them royally and show them that they have value and worth," Culver said. "They come from some difficult backgrounds."

Nineteen children were able to attend this year’s camp.

The children participate in activities such nature explorations, tea parties, wood working, crafts, horseback riding, swimming, a talent show, and more.

"It is so fun having the community backing. These are our community children and it is so fun to have the credit union organization to back us. We really appreciate it," Culver said.

Culver added they will host the camp each summer.
