The main concern today is areas of widespread smoke continuing to affect air quality and the visibility across the state.

Much of the state’s air quality is at the Unhealthy status.  According to Montana Department of Environmental Quality, when air quality is Unhealthy, state and local health officials recommend that people with respiratory or heart disease, the elderly, and children should avoid prolonged exertion; everyone else should limit prolonged exertion.

There is currently an Air Quality Alert is in effect for every county in Montana. This Air Quality Alert will be updated again on Monday morning.

Isolated storms and a shift in the winds this evening into tomorrow may offer some temporary relief of smoke in some areas.

Isolated and scattered showers and thunderstorms will first develop along the Rocky Mountain Front before moving east over the plains of north central portions.

More widespread showers with the possibility of some storms are possible throughout the day on Monday.

Temperatures on Monday will be the coolest day of the week. High pressure returns by mid-week which will help bump up temperatures again.
