BUTTE — Dylan Harrison faces a charge of attempted deliberate homicide in connection with a shooting in Butte on Tuesday.
Harrison, 26 years old, is accused of shooting a Quincy Street resident in the hand during a scuffle in the 3200 block of Quincy Street at about 7:30 a.m. The victim, a 66-year-old Butte man, was treated and released for his injury.
The incident occurred when the victim confronted Harrison, who was allegedly attempting to steal a neighbor’s car. Harrison is accused of pulling out a .45 caliber handgun and shooting the victim in the hand during the scuffle.
Another Quincy Street resident was able to help the victim disarm Harrison, wrestle him to the ground, and hold him until police arrived.
Harrison faces additional felony charges of motor vehicle theft, assault with a weapon, and robbery; he remains jailed.



(1st REPORT) A Butte resident was shot in the hand as he tried to stop two men who had entered a neighbor’s car on Tuesday. It happened at about 7:30 a.m. in the 3200 block of Quincy Street, according to a witness.
The man who fired the gun was wrestled to the ground by neighbors and held there until police arrived. The other suspect ran from the scene.
The witness said the victim who was shot in the hand is in good condition and no other injuries were reported.
The suspected shooter is in custody in Butte; his name has not yet been released.
