Below are details on charges filed against Danielle Matye and Carl Robert Tibbets. The information is from court documents that we received on Wednesday, August 19, 2020.

  • Danielle Matye has been charged with assaulting a child in Great Falls.

On August 10, Sheriff's deputies responded to an address in Cascade County for a report of a mother assaulting her daughter. Deputies Iearned that Matye had assaulted her 13-year old daughter by yanking on the child's ponytail, putting her in a chokehold, and repeatedly punching the child in the face. Deputies noted injuries to the child consistent with the report of assault.

Court documents say a witness heard Matye say to the girl, "Don't you ever touch your brother like that again, or I'll stomp you in front of everyone." The witness turned around and saw the girl run across the street to a parking lot. Matye chased after her and grabbed her by her hair, placed her in a chokehold, and started punching her in the face.

The witness started to run down the road, and the girl followed; the witness told the girl to get into her vehicle so that she could take her to safety. The witness then took the girl to her grandmother's house for safety

Court documents state that Matye has a "lengthy criminal history."

Matye has been charged with felony assault on a minor.

  • Carl Robert Tibbetts has been charged after he allegedly dragged a woman with his vehicle.

On Monday, deputies responded to the Pit Stop Tavern in Cascade in Black Eagle for a report of a woman who had been injured by being dragged by a car. Deputies met with the woman and saw "fairly severe road rash" to her left buttocks.

She told officers that she was given a ride to the tavern by Tibbetts, and said that Tibbetts wanted to be in a relationship with her; she refused, angering Tibbetts.

The woman said that Tibbetts parked and she began to get out of the vehicle, but before she was out of the way, Tibbetts put the vehicle into reverse and accelerated. She was
trapped by the vehicle door and dragged, sustaining the the injuries described above.

Two people saw the incident and corroborated the woman's account of what happened.

Court documents state that Tibbetts has a "lengthy" criminal history.

Tibbetts has been charged with felony assault with a weapon.
