The Salvation Army in Great Falls is looking for help with its annual Red Kettle campaign.
This year, the group hopes to raise $80,000, but bell ringing shifts are less than a quarter filled.
People interested in volunteering their time are asked to ring for at least an hour, but longer shifts are appreciated if possible.
The money raised goes beyond helping families at the holidays to fund Salvation Army programs like rent and utility assistance all year long.
The Salvation Army’s Major Mark King hopes to see more businesses get involved by giving their workers time to volunteer.
“Across the United States there’s been a movement with companies who may not necessarily be able to give monetarily so they donate the use of their employees,” King said. “They sponsor a day at the kettle, a kettle anywhere it may be, and then give their employees the opportunity to volunteer on behalf of their organization or the company.”
This holiday season, King said they expect to help around 500 families with food and other items.
