An iconic restaurant may have closed last week, but its doors were open once again Monday to give people a chance to take home a piece of its history.

The 5th Street Diner is selling its memorabilia and equipment after serving its last meal on Friday.

Some of the items are headed down the street to Tracy’s Diner.

Francie Robertson came from Cascade to buy a few chairs and other treasures. She and her family have dined at the restaurant for years.

“This is a small, independently-owned business and we loved the service that they provided,” she said. She added she will miss the atmosphere the 5th Street Diner brought to Great Falls.

Robertson recalled the times her husband and grandson would wait for her at the diner while she was at physical therapy.

“He just loved it,” she said about her husband. “It was the only place he would like to come.”

5th Street Diner will sell its memorabilia and equipment through June 6.
