Several Great Falls residents had a rude awakening early Friday morning after a vehicle crashed into their apartment building.

The building’s property owner, Joel Todd, said he got the call around 3 a.m. that a vehicle had hit his building located at 515 10th St. N.

The Great Falls Police Department said Arvin Gallagher was taken into custody in connection with the crash.

The collision cut off power to the building’s two tenants for the rest of the morning, but services were eventually restored.

Todd said he’s looking at electrical repairs with costs estimated around $8,000-$10,000. He added he’s thankful there were no injuries as the incident could have been much worse.

“[He] missed the gas meter by about three to four inches,” he said. “If the vehicle was another foot over, the whole building probably would have blown up or there would have been some major, major issues.”

Todd owns over 20 apartment properties in Great Falls, but said this is the first time he’s had a vehicle crash into one.
