GREAT FALLS — The Cascade County Commission approved salary increases for the county constable and elected officials for the 2020-2021 fiscal year.

Both motions for the 1% increase were unanimously approved and go into effect July 1.

Commissioner Joe Briggs commented that under Montana law, sheriff’s deputy salaries are tied directly to the base salary of the sheriff, and the only way to increase deputy pay is to increase elected officials’ salaries.

The constable salary will increase from $43,046.74 to $43,477.21.

The increase is based on recommendations from the Cascade County compensation board, which were based on cost-of-living increases.
