GREAT FALLS — Every year, the Great Falls Area Chamber of Commerce Ag Committee awards four $1,000 scholarships to students in and around Great Falls pursuing a degree related to agriculture. Two of the scholarships go to current college students, while the other two are reserved for graduating high school seniors that plan to attend college full-time the following semester.

“The biggest purpose of the Ag committee here at the Chamber is to foster the growth and better the communication and the partnerships between the agriculture community and the business community,” explained Kali Tuckerman, the Membership Development Director for the Chamber of Commerce. “We also want to make sure that we foster our youth and make sure that they are still wanting to be interested in agriculture in their future.”

To apply for a scholarship, click here to download the form and mail it to Great Falls Chamber of Commerce Ag Committee Scholarship, 100 1st Avenue North, Great Falls, MT 59401.

Tuckerman, who is a farmer’s daughter herself, says that the committee’s goal is also to make it easier for people to come back to their family farms as they grow up and leave to get an education, if that is their goal.

The scholarship is sponsored by Great Falls College MSU, Montana Specialty Mills, Stockman Bank, and other businesses and companies. Because the scholarships are awarded annually, applicants must apply each year, even if they have previously applied.

Each application must include a personal statement about why you chose your current major, field of study or trade, and how you will use your education to support the agricultural industry, one letter of recommendation, a summary of leadership, honors, & volunteer activities, and current unofficial transcripts.
