GREAT FALLS — Valley View Elementary School is trying to add a new security system, but they don’t have the federal funding to pay for it.

They’re hoping the community can step up and help.

“We are raising money to do an access control system for our school, which wouldn’t completely lock down availability to our students, or the teachers or the parents,” said Valley View PTA President Garri Mauch. “We are just going to make things a little bit more secure, like a badge-in system, where you would have to access through Ms. Linda, through the security system.”

The idea for a new security system came from Giant Springs Elementary School, a much newer building that received updated security measures when it was built recently.

The goal of the Parent Teacher Association is to keep the students, teachers and community of Valley View safe, and Mauch says that if you’re interested in donating money towards the campaign, you can do so anytime during regular school hours.

“If you’d be interested in donating to Valley View PTA, or our school, you can always stop in, and we will accept checks or cash, of course,” she said. “Valley View PTA is a wonderful organization that helps the community come together. We also worry about our teachers and our children on a daily basis, and how we can make their environment more secure, more educational. Our goal no matter what is to support our children and bring them together and love them and take care of them just like any other PTA. Our community, and the PTAs and the mothers, grandmas, and aunts and uncles, we are all here to take care of our students, and you can ask any one of them. It’s all with our love in our heart, and we will go above and beyond for those children and those families no matter what.”
