1 person dead in Jefferson County crash

(UPDATE, 12:44 pm) A 60-year-old Helena man died while driving a semi-truck on Homestake Pass; the man's name has not yet been released.

The MHP suspects the driver may have suffered some kind of medical problem, which caused the crash. The truck stalled on the pass, rolled backward and jackknifed on the highway.



(1st Report, 10:28 am) The Montana Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that killed one person in Jefferson County on Monday.

The crash was reported to the MHP at 4;23 a.m., and it happened near mile marker 240 of I-90 southeast of Butte.

The west-bound lane of the highway remains closed between Homestake and Butte.

Emergency crews are still at the scene.

The name of the victim has not yet been released, nor have any other details about the crash.
