2 children identified as victims of house fire in Kalispell

The two people that died in a house fire in Kalispell have been identified as two young children.



Flathead County Sheriff Brian Heino reports that 2-year-old Deeana Bass and 3-year-old Ryker Bass died in the fire on East California Street on Wednesday.

The bodies of both children have been taken to the Montana State Crime Lab in Missoula for further investigation.

The Kalispell Police Department is continuing to investigate the fire.

"This incident shocked our community and our first responders," Sheriff Heino said in a news release. "We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family."



(NOVEMBER 18) Two people died in an overnight house fire in Kalispell. Emergency personnel were dispatched to the fire just before 1 a.m. to the house on East California Street.



Kalispell Fire Chief Dave Dedman said that firefighters saw no flames visible from outside, but there was a small amount of smoke.

The fire was primarily contained to the front room of the residence, and had mostly burned out by the time firefighters arrived.

When firefighters went inside the house, they found three people, who were all taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

Two of the people died; there is no word on the condition of the third person. The names of the two people have not yet been released.

The fire was extinguished, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause.
