While February has proven to be persistent for sub-zero temperatures and snow, winter is showing no signs of letting up.
A heavy band of snow moved through the area Wednesday afternoon around 3:05 p.m. The area was located along a line extending from 10 miles east of Belt to seven miles south of Cascade, according to the National Weather Service.
Sections of Interstate 15, Highway 200, and Highway 89 were impacted and visibilities were expected to drop quickly to a half mile or less.
A Winter Weather Advisory for north-central Montana remains in effect until 5 a.m. Thursday.
The Advisory covers portions of Cascade, Glacier, Hill, Chouteau, Lewis and Clark, Toole, Liberty, Pondera, Blaine, Teton, Judith Basin, Fergus, Jefferson, Broadwater, and Meagher counties.
The Montana Department of Transportation reports that road conditions around Great Falls are dry/mostly dry while snow-covered on Highway 87 towards Fort Benton and scattered snow and ice on some areas of Interstate 15 from Great Falls to Helena.
Road conditions for northern Montana around Browning, Cut Bank, and Shelby show snow and ice and scattered snow and ice.
The National Weather Service advises caution while driving.
