LEWISTOWN — Maizy is a foster cat currently living with the director of Saving Animals From Euthanasia (SAFE) in Lewistown.

Maizy came to SAFE as a pregnant stray about two months ago. Then Maizy had six kittens that have since all been adopted, and Butler says now it’s time for Maizy to find her new family.

“Maizy is a little shy,” explained Peggy Butler, the director of SAFE. “She’s actually just a very calm cat. She does like to play if you play with her but she’s not running all over, climbing the walls and curtains. She’s a very calm cat, so really she just wants a nice warm lap to be in all day.”

Butler said that Maizy gets along well with other cats, but is not a big fan of dogs. Maizy is spayed and current on all her shots; it costs $50 to adopt her.

SAFE is a community-led non-profit that cares for 15 cats in four homes across Lewistown. The organization relies heavily on donations.
