GREAT FALLS — A barber shop in Great Falls says business is starting to pick up after reopening to the public on Monday, following weeks of being closed due to state-wide restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We have eight in the shop with about 15 people waiting outside every day,” said Shilo Holcomb, co-owner of Classic Haircuts.
She says Classic Haircuts, located at 5601 9th Avenue South, closed the doors on March 23rd. Since reopening, they’ve seen a lot of shaggy heads walk in as customers have waited for weeks to get their hair cut by their favorite stylist.
Holcomb said she had as many as 30 people waiting for a haircut Monday and told MTN News she was grateful for the support.
“We’ve had every aspect of the community in supporting us - totally excited we’re back,” she said.
The shop is only allowing eight customers in at a time and is taking all recommended cleaning precautions. Click here to visit their Facebook page.
Because of the limits on the number of customers allowed at any given time, coupled with the pent-up demand, we recommend that you call your barber shop or salon to schedule an appointment.
Under the "Re-opening The Big Sky" plan released last week by Governor Steve Bullock, personal care shops - such as salons and barber shops - were able to re-open on Monday, April 27. with the following guidelines:
Operations that require close personal contact for an extended period result in exposing staff and customers to greater levels of risk. These situations require additional safety and health precautions. Stylist / artist / service-provider and customer would be a “station” that would be 6 feet away from other “stations”. Provide for 6 feet of physical distancing between stations, this may require:
- A reduction in capacity;
- Increasing spacing, removing stations, or marking stations as closed;
- Providing for a physical barrier between stations;
- A reduction of seating in service and waiting areas; or
- Systems that reduce the amount of contact time between customers and staff.
