Cooler days ahead, and chances of rain

WEATHER DISCUSSION: High temperatures today reached above average, being the warmest temperatures seen this year. These temperatures were seen in upper 70’s and low to upper 80’s, and low 90’s, with partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies. Tonight expect mostly cloudy skies with breezy conditions at times. Low temperatures are expected in the 40’s and 50’s.

051025 Lows Tonight

Isolated thunderstorms continue through this evening across the area. These thunderstorms will move quickly from the southwest to northeast. The primarily threat from any thunderstorm will be strong to severe winds. Little to no rainfall is expected with these thunderstorms.

051025 Severe Thunderstorm Outlook Tonight

Sunday afternoon/evening, a surface cold front associated with an upper-level trough will begin to move through the region. This will lead to widespread showers and thunderstorms across the area on Sunday. Isolated thunderstorms will produce strong to severe wind gusts and small hail. The greatest risk for any severe thunderstorm will be east of the continental divide.

051025 Highs Tomorrow

On Sunday due to the cold front, temperatures will be around 10 to 15 degrees colder across the area but still above seasonal averages. Expect them in the 70's and 80's. Sunday evening, rain will move into the Rocky Mountain Front and adjacent plains. Some of the higher peaks along the Rocky Mountain Front will receive some snow.

Monday through Wednesday the upper-level trough will remain over North-central, Central, and Southwestern Montana. This will bring daily rain chances to the area Monday through Wednesday with cooler temperatures back into the 50’s.
