Photo: 'Parting The Clouds'

Did you see this neat cloud formation in Great Falls on Thursday afternoon?

We had some gravity waves over central Montana. These clouds form when there is up-and-down motion in the air. They develop as the air rises and dissipate as it sinks - hence the blue sky in between.

There were also some stratus clouds along a cold front, which likely explains the darker clouds on the right.
