Did you see this neat cloud formation in Great Falls on Thursday afternoon?
We had some gravity waves over central Montana. These clouds form when there is up-and-down motion in the air. They develop as the air rises and dissipate as it sinks - hence the blue sky in between.
There were also some stratus clouds along a cold front, which likely explains the darker clouds on the right.
