GREAT FALLS — A six-person panel touched on a variety of topics within Great Falls Public Schools on Tuesday night.

The panelists were Jan Cahill (Chair of the GFPS Board of Trustees), Colette Getten (GFPS Early Childhood Education Coordinator), Drew Uecker (Paris Gibson Education Center Principal), Susan Wolff (Great Falls College – MSU Dean), Tom Moore (GFPS Superintendent), and Jamie Marshall (Chair of Kids’ Education YES!).

After noting that Great Falls is the second largest school district in the Treasure State, Gerry Jennings of Great Falls Rising, the organization that hosted the event, introduced each panelist one at a time. After being introduced, that panelist then had the floor for 15 minutes. While they were asked to speak about a specific topic or current issue, each panelist deviated slightly, but kept with many of the main ideas that other panelists brought up throughout the event.

Some of the topics included access to early childhood education, transportation for students, the importance of partnering with non-educational organizations, the education budget as it pertains to how much the state provides versus how much must be put up by the district, and several other topics.

After each panelist got their 15 minutes, the floor was then opened up for questions.

The event was fairly well-attended, and the majority of the chairs in room at the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation were full from the start of the night until the end.
