Elsie Janet Wilson (née Friesen), age 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 22, 2026, in Great Falls.
She was born on September 1, 1948, in Havre, Montana. Elsie lived a life filled with faith, family, and dedication to helping others. Elsie graduated from Simms High School and pursued her passion for learning by attending Alberta Bible College and Nebraska Christian College. Her education reflected her deep commitment to her faith and her desire to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those around her.
Throughout her career, Elsie devoted herself to serving others. From 1993 to 1997, she worked at Big Sandy Activities, where she made a difference in the lives of many. Later, she joined Easter Seals Goodwill Northern Rocky Mountain Inc, where she continued her work until her well-earned retirement.
Elsie was a woman of strong faith who found spiritual community in several churches throughout her life. She attended 5th Avenue Christian Church in Havre with her family and later worshipped at Northwest Family Fellowship and Vineyard Christian Church. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life and guided her actions and relationships.
Family was at the heart of Elsie's world. She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Ivan Wilson of Great Falls; their three children, Lorriane Julian of Stockett, Mendy Wilson of Great Falls, and Heidi Brugman of Great Falls. She also leaves behind three cherished grandchildren, Justin, Andrew, and Joseph Julian of Great Falls; brother, Ron Friesen of Washington State; and sister, Donna Gratz of Great Falls; as well as, nieces, nephews, and various cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Friesen and Lily Friesen (née Owens).
Elsie found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved cross-stitching and spent countless hours creating beautiful pieces that reflected her patience and creativity. She enjoyed reading and treasured time spent with family—whether it was with loved ones or the family cat that brought an extra touch of warmth to their home. She also valued the companionship of friends like Linda, whose friendship enriched her days.
In honor of Elsie's compassionate spirit and love for children, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in lieu of flowers.
Elsie's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. May those who mourn find comfort in remembering the love she shared so generously throughout her life.
